Watercolor glass or glassy canvases? An incredible artist Sheva Chaya artworks in her gallery at Tsfat, IsraelAn incredible artist Sheva Chaya artworks in her gallery at Tsfat, Israel Can you guess one of our most surprising impressions in Israel? Yes, I LOVE history, but keep trying. Nature? Unbelievably diverse and absolutely astonishingly beautiful, true, yet there was something else... One of the brightest and most tender impressions we had in Israel left the airy, colorful and philosophically insightful works by Sheva Chaya - an incredible master of watercolor and glasswork that we were fascinated to meet while exploring Tzfat. Amazingly, Sheva originally used to be our neighbor, receiving her degree from Princeton University. Sheva’s Aliyah to Israel helped her to breath in a deeper meaning into her artistry. Sheva remained in Tzfat, opened her own gallery and welcomed everybody who is excited to learn her insights into painting, glass blowing, or life’s endless “why’s”. An incredible artist Sheva Chaya artworks in her gallery at Tsfat, IsraelAn incredible artist Sheva Chaya artworks in her gallery at Tsfat, Israel Sheva’s paintings hold the airy whimsical kindness of Chagall’s work mixed in with precision of the Old Masters and the heartening truths if the surrealists. Sheva’s watercolor portraits feel like synagogue’s stain glass windows (no less significant!). Glass pieces have an air of fluidity only a dripping painterly brush can give to a blank sheet. Watching Sheva work, admiring her mastery - we couldn’t help wondering which artworks are more transparent, which ones hide more secrets - her glass masterpieces... or watercolor ones. Chag Sameach. Yom Tov. For another 5780 years.
