Melted Crayons - easy, beautiful, creative craft for little or big kids for Mothers DayMelted Crayons - easy, beautiful, creative craft for little or big kids for Mothers Day Once upon a time there were three little... no, not pigs, not even piglets.  Still, they loved to squeal, roll in a mud, make silly sounds, play around all day long and behave like three silly little pigs.  They even enjoyed building little houses that were not from straw, sticks or, thank God, bricks, but were just from pillows. One of them was sweet and loved unicorns, the other was naughty and loved aircraft carriers, the third was creative and was a good friend of Santa.  

Well on this rainy day these three little friends (no, not piglets) already tried every possible good game they could come up with and were about to get really silly.  Their three loving mommies didn’t want to turn into the Big Bad Wolves from all the pig-like silliness and offered a simple and fun craft... that would be fast, cute and  creative.  

So these moms...

1. Preheated the oven for 300F (oh, 200F would probably be enough)
2. Got some old beaten up crayons and a silicone heart shaped baking sheet (oh, so they thought).
2. Got paper off each of the the crayons with a knife, nails, teeth, and sheer determination (oh, not that big of a deal for a determined mommy)
3... and broke those crayons in small pieces. (pliers really help with that)

4. Filled the baking sheet heart-shaped holes with crayons (oh, they loved this part so much!)
5. ... and excitedly watched mommies place the tray into the oven.  

10 minutes later, mommies discovered:

1. Crayons completely melted, creating very pretty colorful shapes.
2. Cute little silicone tray turned out to be intended for ice and not baking, so it was getting melted too, and it’s shapes were not as pretty.

Three little (not piglets!) haven’t demolished the rest of the house yet, but came running back to admire the colorful liquid heart-shaped creations and even more colorful and almost liquid tray.  

To add to their excitement, three magical mommies unleashed the magic of pixie dust: they got out the glitter.   The three little ones, who weren’t piglets, squealed as loudly as the real pigs and almost became airborne with all the glitter flying around.  Mommies were smart, and covered the area with trays and paper.  Little ones were even smarter, and shaked the glitter bottles vigorously enough to cover all the surrounding area in gold. Oh, not such a big deal, they loved waiving brooms afterwards just as much.  

And as soon as crayons dried (which is surprising, considering how many times the little fingers poked around to find out if they are ready), they were... wonderful.  So beautiful, that even a Big Bad Wolf would turn into a Sweet Little Puppy and would wish to bring one of them to Grandma for a Mother’s Day.

And silicone tray actually survived too.
